Design Challenges
Key challenges included translating complex e-commerce data, such as product stats, order activity, and user behavior, into a clear, digestible dashboard. The design needed to support quick overviews and deeper exploration without overwhelming the user. Ensuring responsiveness across desktop and mobile was also critical. On smaller screens, we had to maintain hierarchy and clarity while condensing information and interactions. Achieving visual consistency across modules like charts, tables, and tiles required a flexible, yet cohesive design system. We solved these challenges through clear data grouping, color-coded indicators, scalable components, and thoughtful mobile adaptations.
Design Process & Approach
The process started with mapping key user goals: check performance, view orders, and track engagement. We wireframed layouts for both desktop and mobile to ensure parity in structure and readability. We focused on: - A grid-based layout that supports modular rearrangement - Color-coded KPIs for instant visual scanning - Mobile-first decisions to preserve key functionality on small screens - Component-based UI system for scalability and consistency - Interactive elements like filters and charts for data flexibility Each iteration refined the balance between density and clarity, making the dashboard feel informative, not intimidating.
Final Outcome & Solution
Optix presents a clean, intuitive dashboard for tracking key product and business metrics. Users can monitor sales, orders, visits, and activity at a glance, with clear indicators and sortable data blocks. The interface adapts smoothly to mobile, offering a consistent experience without sacrificing functionality. The result is a flexible, insight-driven tool that helps users make informed decisions quickly and confidently.
Impact & Takeaways
Optix proves that with the right visual hierarchy and layout strategy, even dense e-commerce data can feel simple and actionable. Prioritize clarity, design for scale, and let data guide the interface, not the other way around.
